DENSO Robotics: Compact Industrial Arms and Collaborative Automation
DENSO WAVE's robotics business offers HSR, VSA and COBOTTA PRO platforms. Compare robot geometry, tooling, controller scope and regional integration responsibilities before procurement.
Business identity and purchasing scope
DENSO Robotics is the robotics offering associated with DENSO WAVE INCORPORATED, a Japanese company whose official activities include developing, manufacturing and selling industrial robots and control equipment. The corporate outline identifies the manufacturer. This profile covers that robotics business as one supplier entry, rather than treating each robot family or regional distributor as another company.
HSR for four-axis handling
The HSR series provides four-axis SCARA robots for assembly and handling. This architecture is relevant when the process needs rapid planar positioning with vertical movement and wrist rotation. Select the exact reach and load configuration against the fixture layout. Include the gripper, adapters and workpiece when asking the supplier to assess the moving load and cycle.
VSA for articulated access
The VSA series provides six-axis articulated alternatives. Extra orientation freedom can matter when approaching an assembly from different directions or moving between stations with different tool poses. Request a reach and interference study using the real equipment geometry. An arm reaching both stations does not establish a usable trajectory around guarding, services or neighbouring machines.
COBOTTA PRO and application safety
COBOTTA PRO is a separate collaborative robot range. Its model choices and optional equipment should be specified independently of a conventional industrial arm. Collaboration describes an intended application approach; tooling, workpieces, speed, access and surrounding machinery still need assessment. Ask which protective measures and operating modes support the proposed cycle, and who validates the completed installation.
Dated demonstration evidence
A 9 May 2025 Automate announcement described demonstrations planned for 12–15 May, including COBOTTA PRO machine tending with 3D printers and vision-assisted bin picking. This identifies concrete integration themes. It is an exhibition preview, not evidence that a named customer achieved a production rate or that every demonstrated third-party combination is included in a standard robot purchase.
Controller and interface definition
Before comparing offers, request a controller and software schedule for the selected arm. Include the teaching device, electrical interfaces, vision connection, peripheral coordination and any development licences. State whether the customer expects robot programming, PLC integration or a complete validated cell. Agree who resolves failures that cross the robot, gripper, camera and machine-tool boundaries.
Regional supply and support
DENSO WAVE's official regional directory distinguishes local organisations and the product areas they handle. In the Americas it lists DENSO Products and Services Americas for robotics. Use the destination-specific contact to establish the contracting party, available configuration, documentation language and service terms. A regional listing does not guarantee local stock, an installation date or coverage for every model.
Prepare a representative acceptance brief
Provide part drawings, sample variation, station layouts, shift pattern and accepted-output criteria. The trial should include loading, normal cycles, rejected parts, recovery and changeover. Compare complete engineering and recurring support costs alongside hardware. Begin with Write a Robotics Buyer Brief, browse Industrial & Collaborative Robots, or prepare a Robotics RFQ. Official sources were reviewed on 10 September 2026.
