Eddyfi Technologies: VersaTrax Robotic Inspection Platforms
Assess Eddyfi Technologies' VersaTrax inspection crawlers, operator software, modular configurations and custom application boundaries, with practical requirements for access, evidence and support.
Company and inspection role
Eddyfi Technologies describes a Canadian inspection technology business combining sensors, software and robotics. Its portfolio includes technology associated with the historical Inuktun brand. The robotics division describes OnSpec Robotics as Eddyfi Technologies’ purpose-built remote systems. These related names are not separate companies in this directory. A buyer should treat this as one supplier group for initial research, then verify the legal entity and product business named in the quotation. This profile focuses on remote inspection crawlers.
Current VersaTrax platforms
The VersaTrax I-Series page presents VTI50, VTI100 and VTI150 systems for visual inspection of confined infrastructure. Different vehicles, camera arrangements and track configurations address different access conditions. A model name alone is insufficient for selection: the complete assembly, cable routing and entry geometry determine whether a system can reach and inspect the proposed asset.
A dated portfolio introduction
On October 10, 2023, Eddyfi introduced the VersaTrax portfolio, distinguishing confined-space, long-range, complex-route, ferrous-surface and nondestructive-testing platforms, alongside OnSpec customization. This dated release establishes product positioning, not proof that every variant has been deployed at a particular facility. Request current configuration sheets rather than assuming the launch portfolio remains identical.
Operator workflow and evidence
The I-Series material describes ICON software for control, recording, annotations and reporting. These functions support an inspection workflow; they do not make every defect assessment autonomous. Procurement teams should specify the required evidence: location references, original video, still images, operator notes and a report format that the asset owner can retain independently of the live control system.
Standard equipment and custom applications
Eddyfi's XY crawler application account describes custom equipment for Washington River Protection Solutions at Hanford, where lateral travel addressed constrained inspection access. That manufacturer case concerns a tailored system. It does not establish that a stock I-Series unit is qualified for all nuclear facilities, hazardous atmospheres or contaminated environments. Project-specific engineering and acceptance evidence remain essential.
Design an access trial
An effective evaluation should reproduce representative openings, bends, surface conditions and lighting. Include vehicle retrieval after loss of motion or communication, and agree who is responsible for the asset during the test. Where additional sensors are proposed, require a documented mounting arrangement, calibration process and usable data output. Optional payloads can change clearance and handling requirements, so test the quoted configuration.
Commercial contact and support
The robotics contact page identifies a Canadian center of excellence and directs inquiries to Eddyfi. Provide asset drawings, access restrictions, inspection objectives and operating country. Ask the supplier to separate standard hardware, custom engineering, software licensing, training and service costs. Confirm local support arrangements, spare cable and track availability, repair turnaround and the supported life of control computers.
Procurement questions and limits
What complete configuration fits the smallest opening and tightest bend?
Which inspection outputs will be delivered in an independently readable format?
What recovery procedure will be demonstrated before asset entry?
Which environmental qualifications apply to the exact offered assembly?
The sources establish supplier descriptions and a historical custom application; they do not independently validate site performance. Explore Special-purpose, Emergency & Inspection Robots, Write a Robotics Buyer Brief, or prepare a Robotics RFQ.
