Utilities and Infrastructure for a Robot Cell
Power, air, network and environment requirements that are easy to underestimate.
Electrical
Robots and welding equipment draw short, high peaks. Verify the panel has spare capacity for the inrush, provide a dedicated protective device, and confirm the earth reference for the whole cell — including any external axis and the positioner. Signal cabling should be separated from power runs to avoid interference on analogue sensors.
Compressed air and hydraulics
Grippers are sensitive to moisture and pressure swings. Specify filtration and drying, and put a lockable isolation valve inside the cell. Check the pressure at the gripper during the fastest move, not at the compressor.
Environment
