What to Put in a Robot Integration Statement of Work
Scope, boundaries and responsibilities so nothing falls between the parties.
Draw the boundary
The single most useful item in a statement of work is a marked-up layout showing exactly where the integrator's responsibility stops and yours begins: power, air, network, guarding, floor preparation, and the conveyor interface. Ambiguity here is the most common source of change orders.
| Item | Typical split | Evidence |
|---|---|---|
| Cell layout and drawings | Integrator | As-built set before SAT |
| Power to the cell panel | Customer | Isolator labelled and tested |
| Safety risk assessment | Joint, integrator leads | Signed report |
| Production parts for testing | Customer | Quantity and delivery dates |
| Operator training | Integrator | Attendance list and materials |
Define the technical acceptance in numbers
Attach the FAT and SAT protocols as appendices. They convert “completion” from an opinion into a checklist, and they make partial payments safe for both sides.
Name the people
One project manager per side, with authority to make technical decisions and a written escalation contact. Projects with three informal contacts and no owner drift.
