Industrial Robot Installations Reach 542,000 Units in 2024
IFR data shows a stabilised market after two record years, with Asia still dominant.
The headline figures
According to the International Federation of Robotics (IFR) World Robotics report, global industrial robot installations were around 542,000 units in 2024, with an operational stock of roughly 4.66 million units. The market has settled below the 2022-2023 peak rather than collapsed: the installed base keeps growing even when annual installations dip.

What the numbers mean for buyers
A flat installation market is good news for buyers: delivery times shorten and competition on price and support increases. It is also a signal that payback calculations are being scrutinised harder, with projects judged on running cost rather than novelty.
Read the IFR figures with their definitions: industrial robots only, as service and consumer robots are counted separately and in different units.
