CE Marking Checklist for Robot Cells
What has to exist before the CE plate goes on.
Before you can mark
| Item | Evidence |
|---|---|
| Applicable regulations identified | Written list with reasoning |
| Risk assessment (ISO 12100) | Signed assessment covering all tasks |
| Safety concept | Drawings with performance levels stated |
| Validation | Test records with measured values |
| Technical file | Indexed, version controlled |
| Declaration of conformity | Signed, naming the responsible person |
Where cells usually fall short
- Residual risks not documented in the instructions.
- Safety functions stated but never measured.
- Modifications after validation with no re-validation note.
- Manual that describes the robot, not the assembled cell.
Most industrial robot cells are self-certified. Certain machine categories and safety components still require a notified body, so check the annexes that apply to your machine type.
