What the number actually covers

The directory currently indexes 634,095 company records across 289 cities and 32 provincial regions. A record means the company name, registered region and a business-scope excerpt are indexed. It does not mean the company is certified, and it is not a ranking.

Head cities versus the long tail

Only about a dozen cities hold more than ten thousand records. Shenzhen, Guangzhou, Suzhou, Shanghai and Beijing lead. More than half of the cities have fewer than one hundred records. This is a normal registration-based distribution: a company is counted where it is registered, not where it delivers projects.

Three mistakes when reading city counts

• Treating registration as delivery. Many integrators register in one city and deliver nationwide.
• Counting branches as separate companies. Group subsidiaries inflate city totals.
• Reading "robot" in the business scope as "makes robots". This is the largest noise source.

How to use it

Use city counts to narrow a candidate pool, then filter by robot category, then verify each company on its own site. City data is a filter, not a judgement.
