Vision-Guided Robotics: From Calibration to Production
Why vision projects fail, and it is rarely the camera.
Four stages
- Lighting: fix it, do not fight ambient light changes.
- Calibration: hand-eye accuracy sets the achievable tolerance.
- Tolerance design: the fixture should not depend entirely on vision.
- Exception handling: define what happens on a failed detection.
Acceptance measures
| Metric | Suggested test |
|---|---|
| Detection success rate | 500 or more consecutive parts |
| Guidance accuracy | Measure deviation distribution on real fixtures |
| Cycle time | Include capture, processing and communication |
| Stability | Count false decisions across a full shift |
