Gripper Selection Guide
Match the tool to the part before choosing the robot.
By application
| Type | Fits | Limits |
|---|---|---|
| Two-finger | Rigid parts with defined faces | Needs repeatable presentation |
| Three-finger / adaptive | Round or irregular objects | Higher cost and complexity |
| Vacuum | Flat, light, smooth surfaces | Fails on porous or dusty parts |
| Magnetic | Ferrous parts | Not for aluminium or composites |
| Soft / compliant | Fragile or food items | Force limits and wear |
Prototype early
- Test on real parts, including damaged and dirty ones.
- Check that gripping does not mark visible surfaces.
- Plan for the worst-case positional tolerance.
