Disclosing Condition When Selling Used Robots
Used equipment sells on information, not on optimism.
Disclose these points
| Item | What to state |
|---|---|
| Year | Year of manufacture and months in service |
| Hours | Cumulative operating hours or cycles |
| History | Parts replaced and repairs carried out |
| Condition | Whether it can be powered up and demonstrated |
| Origin | Lease return, refurbished unit or demonstration machine |
| Documents | Manuals, programs and spare parts included |
Practical advice
- Allow inspection on site rather than selling from photographs alone.
- Agree how performance will be re-tested and what happens if it fails.
- Confirm who pays for transport, commissioning and any warranty.
Full disclosure reduces disputes. Undisclosed faults are the most common cause of claims.
