Reading a Robot Product Launch
Press launches are long on adjectives and short on test conditions.
Look past the specification sheet
| Item | The question to ask |
|---|---|
| Positioning | Which process it addresses and what it replaces |
| Figures | Which key measures are published with test conditions |
| Maturity | Prototype, pilot batch or deliverable product |
| Ecosystem | Whether interfaces and tooling are open |
| Commercials | Whether price and lead time are stated |
Common traps
- A percentage improvement without a stated baseline means little.
- Demonstration conditions often differ from a real production line.
- Pre-orders and intentions are not deliveries.
For technical claims, rely on published technical documentation or test reports.
