Company Profile: 1X — NEO Home Humanoid Robots
A primary-source profile of 1X and NEO, covering home assistance, Early Access autonomy, remote support, dated research and US delivery boundaries.
Company focus and identity
1X develops humanoid robots and the AI that controls them, with its current public offering centered on NEO for homes. Its company history traces the business to Halodi Robotics in 2014 and describes an earlier wheeled robot, EVE. Those names belong to the company's development history and should not be treated as interchangeable NEO configurations. The company identifies Palo Alto, California as its headquarters. 1X company profile.
NEO and the home environment
NEO is presented as a bipedal home robot for everyday assistance and chores. The product combines articulated hands, tendon-driven actuation and a soft exterior. Its app supports scheduling and monitoring, while voice interaction is part of the proposed home experience. These are manufacturer descriptions: a buyer still needs an agreed list of supported objects, rooms and tasks, including circumstances in which the robot stops or requests help. Autonomy and remote assistance
The product page distinguishes basic autonomy in Early Access from the wider capabilities the company intends to develop. Expert Mode allows a scheduled 1X Expert to remotely supervise unfamiliar or complex tasks. A household should establish when assistance is requested, who authorizes access, what the operator can observe and whether the robot remains usable when connectivity fails. A chore shown in marketing is not a commitment that every example will run autonomously in a new home. NEO autonomy and Expert Mode.
Dated research and hardware examples
On March 18, 2025, 1X described a research collaboration with NVIDIA in which teams trained NEO Gamma on a dish-loading task at an employee's home over one week. The work supported a GTC demonstration and tested integration of an external learning system. It is evidence of a specific research exercise, not a general household deployment record. A July 9, 2026 engineering article introduced a new tendon-driven hand design and discussed tactile sensing and manipulation demonstrations. Buyers should request the exact hand revision included in their delivery and the associated software. Published hardware improvements do not by themselves establish reliable completion of every demonstrated task. July 2026 hand announcement.
Production and regional availability
In its April 30, 2026 factory update, 1X described production in Hayward, California and reiterated a plan for first customer shipments during 2026, while saying some preorder customers would receive robots later. Factory capacity and reservations therefore require separate treatment from completed customer deliveries. The order page identifies US deliveries starting in 2026; it does not establish worldwide supply or a delivery date for an individual address. Factory and delivery update; Current order conditions.
Commercial contact and household data
The official order page distinguishes subscription and Early Access ownership options. Confirm the applicable agreement, installation arrangements, cancellation rights, replacement support and ongoing service obligations directly with 1X. The support form provides an official route for a product or order question. Order options; 1X support.
The website privacy policy explains collection and handling of information from website interactions. A household should additionally obtain the rules specifically governing robot cameras, audio, home maps, remote assistance, retention and deletion. The website policy alone should not be read as a complete account of in-home robot data handling. Published privacy policy.
Questions for a defined evaluation
Which chores are available autonomously on the delivered software, and which require remote assistance?
What restrictions apply around stairs, pets, children, liquids, fragile objects and private rooms?
Who can authorize or interrupt remote operation, and what local stop controls are provided?
What are the address eligibility, delivery window, support hours, repair route and replacement terms?
Can acceptance testing measure completed tasks, interventions and recovery time in the intended home?
Evidence limits and next steps
This profile was reviewed on September 10, 2026 using 1X's own product pages and dated announcements. They document the supplier's offering and development activity, not independent validation of safety, reliability or household suitability. Confirm the delivered configuration and written service terms before committing to a purchase.
