Understanding IP Ratings
Two digits, one for solids and one for liquids.
Common ratings

Practical points
- A high dust rating does not imply corrosion resistance.
- The robot may carry a rating that the controller cabinet does not.
- Where wash-down is used, check whether high pressure is permitted and review seal life.
Real protection also depends on installation and seal condition, so inspect periodically.
