Company Profile: PAL Robotics — KANGAROO and TALOS Humanoids
A primary-source profile of PAL Robotics' humanoid research platforms, covering current configurations, software access, dated research examples and international procurement requirements.
Company and research focus
PAL Robotics develops customizable robotic platforms and components for research and service applications. Its history begins in 2004, and its headquarters are in Barcelona, Spain. The company also lists offices in Toulouse and Bari. This profile focuses on its humanoid and legged research platforms, rather than assuming that capabilities from its retail, mobile-base or assistive products apply to every humanoid. Company profile; Company locations.
Current humanoids and legacy models
The current product navigation lists KANGAROO and TALOS under legged robots, while REEM-C appears in the legacy section. KANGAROO is positioned for dynamic locomotion, reinforcement learning and embodied AI research. Its current presentation includes different arm configurations and options for end effectors and additional sensors. A buyer should identify the specific research platform and revision, rather than treat all PAL humanoids as one product. KANGAROO and current portfolio categories.
TALOS is a separate walking biped designed for research, with configurable head and gripper arrangements. Its specification and software offer differ from KANGAROO's. The TALOS page also separates premium software from its base description, so access to a named research behavior should be checked in the quotation. TALOS specifications and software.
Configuration and software scope
KANGAROO's current technical material describes ROS 2, ros2_control, robot models, simulation resources and access for custom software development. It lists optional elements such as additional computing, force or torque sensing and certain control tools. These are research capabilities and integration choices, not a promise of an autonomous worker ready for every industrial task. KANGAROO development tools; Current configuration datasheet.

Dated demonstrations and research examples
On November 24, 2023, PAL described KANGAROO free-walking, walking and balancing demonstrations using specific control approaches. The article separated demonstrated behavior from future development plans. This is useful evidence of the platform's evolution, but the prototype demonstrations should not be treated as an acceptance test for a current configured robot or a guarantee of arbitrary terrain handling. November 2023 development account.
The company's Memmo project page records a project running from January 2018 to December 2022, with TALOS used for research on motions including drilling and stair climbing in an Airbus experimental line. Its status is finished. This establishes a bounded research example involving an experimental setting, not general commercial deployment across Airbus factories. Memmo project scope and dates.
From a platform to an application
PAL offers custom ROS development, engineering, platform modifications, setup guidance and training. These services can be relevant when a research platform needs application-specific adaptation. Their presence on a service page does not mean every service is included in a robot's purchase price or available on identical terms in every country. PAL engineering, training and support services.
A practical pilot starts with a defined motion or manipulation objective and a controlled test area. Establish fall management, lifting and recovery procedures, emergency controls and trained operator roles. Record task completion, interventions, operating conditions and damage or maintenance events. For comparison between platforms, use the same objects, surface conditions and success criteria.
International sales and support
PAL's official contact page lists business@pal-robotics.com for sales and info@pal-robotics.com for general questions, with a quotation route for projects. An international buyer should provide the destination, research objectives, configuration and commissioning date. Ask which entity supplies and supports the system, who handles local installation, and whether training occurs at the customer's site or a PAL facility. Official contact and quotation routes.
The company describes international activity, but geographic presence does not establish immediate stock, local regulatory suitability or on-site repair coverage for every humanoid. Confirm those points for the exact configuration and intended use before placing an order. Company presence and platform focus.
Procurement questions
Which KANGAROO or TALOS configuration best fits the stated research objective?
Which controllers, simulation assets, policies and software licenses are included?
What changes when optional arms, hands, sensors or computing are selected?
Are lifting equipment, operator training, transport cases and commissioning supplied?
How are custom software changes supported, and which modifications affect warranty?
Can a representative demonstration establish measurable acceptance criteria and recovery procedures?
