Company Profile: KUKA
KUKA industrial and collaborative robots, covering KR AGILUS, LBR iisy and KR IONTEC ultra, with controller compatibility, application integration and practical procurement questions.
KUKA and industrial automation projects
KUKA supplies industrial robots and engineering software for production applications. Its portfolio includes compact arms, collaborative robots and larger handling robots. A buyer should start with the process: the part, tool, working positions and required output determine which family deserves a closer look. Research reviewed: 10 September 2026.
A robot and controller are only part of an operating cell. Identify who will supply fixtures, tooling, machine interfaces, protection, programming and acceptance testing. The quotation should name the organization responsible for the completed application and the service arrangements at the installation site.
KR AGILUS for compact industrial tasks
The KR AGILUS family consists of compact six-axis robots for applications including handling and assembly. KUKA lists variants intended for different environments. The exact robot designation matters when considering protection, installation and process compatibility.
For a small-parts cell, share the tool mass and center of gravity as well as the workpiece weight. Check access inside the machine, cable movement, fixture clearance and the path used to withdraw a rejected part. A reachable point does not establish that the complete production path is feasible at the required speed.
LBR iisy and collaborative application design
The current LBR iisy page describes joint torque sensing, hand guiding and operation with iiQKA.OS2. Listed models have different payload and reach combinations. For example, the 3 R760 and 6 R1300 are distinct configurations; maximum reach and maximum payload from a family cannot be combined into an invented model.
KUKA makes operation without protective fencing conditional on the risk assessment. Evaluate the gripper, sharp or hot workpieces, trapping points, process equipment and operator access. A collaborative arm does not establish the safety of the finished task or guarantee production speed beside people.
KR IONTEC ultra and dated product evidence
A KUKA announcement dated 10 February 2025 describes the KR IONTEC ultra for handling and spot welding, including battery production. At publication it identified a 120 kg, 2,700 mm variant as available to order and described additional variants planned for that summer.
This is evidence of the product introduction and its intended applications. Obtain today's exact order code, delivery schedule and controller pairing for the destination market. For heavier tooling, verify wrist moments and inertia, load orientation, mounting structure and all payload carried by the arm, including the cable package.
Controller software and simulation scope
iiQWorks supports engineering around iiQKA.OS2, with configuration and simulation capabilities differentiated by package and options. Establish the controller and software generation before choosing offline engineering tools, particularly when expanding an existing line.
Ask the integrator to deliver a model of the actual robot, tool, fixtures and surrounding machines. Simulation should expose unreachable positions and collisions, while commissioning checks real cable behavior, part variation and process timing. Define software licenses, editable project files, backups and the method for restoring a replacement controller.
Site preparation and integration responsibilities
Provide floor drawings, machine-door positions, utilities and planned service access. Allocate responsibility for bases, anchoring, electrical cabinets, extraction, fieldbus communication and emergency-stop interfaces. Environmental conditions should be matched against the selected model's documentation, including any special variant required by dust, moisture or process materials.
Request a written recovery sequence for a failed grip, machine alarm or interrupted cycle. Operators should be able to identify the fault and restart safely without creating an uncontrolled motion or scrapping a partly processed component. Include maintenance access and routine consumables in the layout review.
What to prove before accepting a cell
Run representative parts, difficult variants and changeovers using the proposed production tooling.
Measure sustained good-part output, including loading, inspection and reject handling.
Agree on positioning and process-quality criteria separately from robot repeatability.
Document safety validation, training, backups, spare parts and service escalation.
Separate robot equipment, integration, licenses, transport and commissioning in the quotation.
Official quotation routes and related buyer resources
Use the quotation and regional contact routes on KUKA's official product pages to confirm the responsible sales entity and local integration arrangements. Submit the application data and installation country with the request. Published examples and portfolio pages do not establish a project price, stock position or service commitment.
Compare suppliers in Industrial and Collaborative Robots, prepare a scope with the robot buyer guide, or send the requirements through the RFQ and consultation page.
