Company Profile: Yaskawa
Yaskawa MOTOMAN industrial and collaborative robots, including GP and HC families, controller and simulation considerations, and a dated Ritter palletizing case for procurement planning.
Yaskawa and the MOTOMAN robot portfolio
Yaskawa supplies MOTOMAN industrial and collaborative robots, controllers and application equipment. Its GP portfolio is one starting point for handling and assembly, while collaborative and process-specific models address different requirements. MOTOMAN is the robot brand within this company profile. Research reviewed: 10 September 2026.
Specify whether the purchase covers an arm and controller, an application package or a commissioned production cell. End tooling, workholding, conveyors, safety measures and machine communication need a named owner in the delivery scope.
GP robots for handling and machine integration
The six-axis GP family spans different payload and reach classes. Select an individual model using the combined workpiece and tool load, wrist requirements, installation orientation and path through the equipment. Family-level figures do not describe every member of the range.
For machine tending, provide the chuck or fixture geometry, door opening, approach angles and loading sequence. For assembly, include insertion forces and any required sensing. Confirm the model's environmental specification for the actual coolant, dust or washing conditions, rather than assuming one protection rating applies to the complete portfolio.
HC collaborative robots and variant differences
Yaskawa's 25 January 2022 HC portfolio announcement explains differences between HC10 and HC20 configurations, including payload, reach and equipment options. It also documents direct teaching and wrist-mounted controls. Treat that dated announcement as product history and request the current model and option list for a new purchase.
Collaborative use depends on the complete task. Assess contact risks from the tool and workpiece, pinch points, pallet access and nearby machinery. Confirm the operating mode and achievable cycle time under the actual protective measures. A cobot label alone does not demonstrate that every application can operate without separation.
Ritter palletizing as deployment evidence
In its Ritter application report, Yaskawa describes palletizing systems integrated by Bayer GmbH & Co. KG using HC cobots, vacuum gripping and conveyor preparation. The first system entered operation in autumn 2024, with three more added by the end of 2025 at the Reichenbach logistics hub.
The case illustrates a complete handling application involving an integrator, tooling and material flow. It does not establish the same throughput for another carton, pallet pattern or site. Request a demonstration with the proposed packaging, including damaged cartons and the least stable stack arrangement.
Controllers and engineering compatibility
The controller overview distinguishes control platforms and pendant options, including YRC1000. Choose the robot, controller, pendant and communications package together. If a plant already uses MOTOMAN equipment, record existing versions and interfaces before assuming that programs or accessories can transfer directly.
Yaskawa's MotoSim documentation covers offline engineering and simulation. Confirm the required software edition, controller support and license terms. A simulation is useful for layout and programming; physical commissioning must still verify fixtures, cables, part variation and recovery behavior.
Application boundaries and factory preparation
A handling robot, welding package and palletizing system require different process equipment. Define grippers or torches, feeders, dress packs, positioners, inspection and extraction as appropriate to the selected task. Assign responsibility for equipment from other suppliers and for the combined cell's acceptance.
Provide electrical and pneumatic supplies, floor and mounting information, access routes and the intended maintenance space. Agree on PLC signals, network settings, machine permissions and fault reporting. Plan how an operator handles a dropped part or interrupted machine cycle without losing track of the workpiece state.
Questions for a production trial and quotation
Which exact robot and controller satisfy the load, reach and process requirements?
Can the trial include all product variants and realistic changeover conditions?
What sustained output and quality criteria will determine acceptance?
Who supplies safeguarding, validates the integrated application and trains operators?
Which licenses, spare parts, program backups and on-site services are included?
How are service response, travel costs and equipment lead times confirmed for this site?
Official contact and supplier comparison
Use Yaskawa's official contact form and country selection to reach the appropriate regional organization. Include the installation location, process, parts and requested delivery boundary. Request a project-specific quotation and confirmation of the proposed integration partner.
