Define each interface

| Electrical | Power supply, protection and cable responsibility |
| Control | Fieldbus, protocols and who owns the controller |
| Data | What is exchanged, in what format, how often |
| Documentation | Which partner issues which drawing or manual |
Working practice
- One named interface owner per boundary, on each side.
- Freeze interfaces before detailed design, then change them through a written process.
- Test the interface early, not on site.
Interfaces that are not written down are the ones that get built twice.
