OMRON: Mobile Robots and Fleet Software for Factory Logistics
OMRON combines mobile robots and FLOW fleet software for factory logistics. Review MD, HD and OL workflows, the European LD transition, Danfoss evidence and integration requirements.
OMRON's mobile robotics and automation scope
OMRON supplies mobile robots as part of its wider industrial automation business. Its mobile portfolio addresses internal material transport between storage, production and shipping processes. This company profile focuses on that logistics application, while acknowledging that control, sensing and other robotics can form part of a broader project. Begin with OMRON's official AMR overview.
MD, HD and OL serve different load workflows
The MD series offers 650 kg and 900 kg payload options for industrial transport, including pallet applications using pickup and drop-off stands. The portfolio also lists HD-1500 for heavier loads. Platform capacity alone does not specify the lift, conveyor or other equipment needed to transfer those loads.
The OL-450S is a distinct, low-profile cart-lifting AMR with omnidirectional movement and a stated maximum payload of 450 kg. Its lifting plate and cart-recognition functions suit load-carrier transport. Confirm cart clearance, load stability and mast configuration for the proposed route instead of transferring MD or HD assumptions to OL.
LD procurement needs a regional transition check
OMRON's Europe-only notice issued 30 June 2026 sets final orders for specified legacy LD-60/90/90x/250 models at 15 November 2026 and final shipment at 31 December 2026. It identifies LD-150 and LD-300 replacements planned for the fourth quarter of 2026.
As of this review, these are stated transition dates, not proof that replacements are already shipping worldwide. The notice flags FLOW Core updates and adapters for relevant legacy toppers. Confirm exact part numbers, regional availability and migration requirements before specifying either an expansion or a new fleet.
FLOW software connects robots to production systems
FLOW Core Fleet Manager coordinates jobs, traffic and charging. Its Integration Toolkit connects fleet operations with client applications and manufacturing or warehouse systems. Virtualized deployment and monitoring options need to be matched to the site's IT architecture and licensed scope.
Define who creates transport jobs, who confirms load transfer and which system owns the inventory record. Test duplicate commands, destination blockage, failed transfers and reconciliation after communication loss. Confirm the software release and supported model combinations; a shared family name is not sufficient evidence that every generation can join an existing fleet unchanged.
Danfoss illustrates integration with warehouse automation
OMRON's customer-reference index dates its Danfoss account to 2 July 2025. The case page describes a Nordborg, Denmark installation combining OMRON mobile robots, an AutoStore warehouse and an industrial robot, developed with partners to address space and material-handling needs.
The example shows mobile transport connecting separate automation systems. It does not make the AutoStore storage installation an OMRON AMR feature, or establish which current AMR model a new buyer should choose. Ask for a comparable reference and clarify the division of work between the robot supplier and system integrators.
Validate the complete robot and load combination
Application assessment should cover loaded dimensions, centre of gravity, transfer height, aisle clearance, floor conditions and interactions with people or other vehicles. Evaluate the complete robot, attachment and load configuration. Product safety statements and optional equipment differ across families and do not remove the need to assess the installation.
Trial the actual carts, pallets or containers with representative loads.
Measure deliveries per shift including queueing, charging and empty travel.
Test recovery from blocked paths, misplaced loads and communication failures.
Agree operating rules for shared areas and maintenance access.
Specify purchased equipment and lifecycle support
Request an itemized bill of materials including batteries, chargers, toppers, stands, fleet licences, host interfaces and training. Some product ordering configurations list batteries separately, so verify the complete delivery package. Establish responsibility for commissioning, application validation, spare parts and local service.
For expansion, require a compatibility and migration plan covering software, attachments and charging equipment. Confirm lifecycle dates for the exact regional part numbers. Use OMRON's official contact route for a scoped proposal; public specifications are not a quotation or a guarantee of site performance.
Prepare an OMRON logistics enquiry
Supply a facility layout, transport-demand profile, load drawings, control-system details and delivery timetable. Compare applications in Mobile & Logistics Robotics, Write a Robotics Buyer Brief, or create a Robotics RFQ covering the full transport workflow.
