Reading Recall and Safety Notices
A recall notice is a public record of a safety process working.
What a notice should state
| Element | Content |
|---|---|
| Affected units | Models, serial ranges and dates |
| Hazard | What can go wrong and under what conditions |
| Action | Stop use, inspect, update or replace |
| Remedy | Free correction, part replacement or refund |
| Contact | Who to reach and by when |
If you own affected equipment
- Stop operation if the notice says so; do not wait for a visit.
- Record the serial numbers of your units.
- Confirm completion in writing and keep the record with the maintenance file.
Follow the manufacturer instruction in the notice. This article is general guidance.
