Vision Calibration
Vision accuracy is a calibration problem before it is a camera problem.
What has to be calibrated
| Item | Why it matters |
|---|---|
| Camera intrinsics | Lens distortion and focal length |
| Hand-eye relation | Where the camera sits relative to the tool |
| Working plane | The plane where parts actually appear |
| Robot frames | Tool and base frames used in the calculation |
| Lighting stability | Consistency across shifts |
Keeping it valid
- Re-calibrate after any change to tooling, camera mount or lens.
- Record the calibration date and result with the cell documentation.
- Check accuracy at the corners of the field of view, not only the centre.
Vision performance depends on lighting and part presentation. Validate with production parts.
