Company Profile: Teledyne FLIR Defense
An official-source profile of Teledyne FLIR Defense ground robots for remote inspection and emergency applications, covering configurations, sensor options, dated international programmes and export-related purchasing boundaries.
Company identity and ground-robot scope
Teledyne FLIR Defense is part of Teledyne Technologies. Its portfolio includes unmanned systems and sensing products for defence, security and public safety. For buyers seeking remote inspection or emergency-response equipment, the relevant products are its unmanned ground systems, including PackBot 525, SUGV 325, Centaur and Kobra 725. These product families belong within one company profile. Corporate and product context; ground-system portfolio.
PackBot 525 for remote inspection
PackBot 525 is a transportable, remotely operated robot with cameras, audio, a manipulator and accessory interfaces. Its current page lists remote inspection and hazardous-material applications, describes HD cameras and a laser range finder, and identifies in-situ charging as optional. The platform sends information to an operator; it should not be described as an unattended industrial inspection service. PackBot 525.
The page explicitly states that sensors are sold separately. Buyers must identify which detection payload, mounting hardware, controller software and calibration support are included. A ground robot's ability to carry a sensor does not itself establish detection capability for a particular substance or operational environment. Payload and accessory boundary.
Centaur and SUGV are different configurations
Centaur is a medium-sized remotely operated system whose published applications include remote monitoring, debris removal and inspection. Teledyne FLIR describes compatibility with chemical, biological, radiological and nuclear detection payloads and integration of sensor information into the controller. The required payload and configuration should be named in a procurement specification. Centaur product information.
SUGV 325 is a smaller portable platform with modular payloads. Its page distinguishes the lightest operating configuration from the optional manipulator-equipped configuration. The advertised carrying weight and runtime should therefore be read with their configuration conditions, not applied indiscriminately to a fully equipped robot. SUGV 325 configurations.
Control, data and site acceptance
Teledyne FLIR describes uPoint as a touchscreen-based multi-robot control system. For SUGV 325, its page also describes a hand controller and an architecture for different payloads. Procurement should establish the exact supported robot, software release, accessories and operator training package; a shared controller brand does not establish compatibility with every external system. Control and expansion features.
Define acceptance around the intended inspection task: usable camera views, required measurements, recording and export of observations, communication coverage, transport arrangements and operator recovery procedures. Require demonstrations under representative site conditions and document which decisions remain with trained personnel.
Dated international programme evidence
A June 2022 release reported that Teledyne FLIR Defense was completing delivery of 127 PackBot 525 robots to the German Army through European Logistic Partners of Wuppertal. The release is datelined June 13, displayed on the site as June 15, and says final shipments were expected in July. This supports a dated delivery programme, not a claim about today's fleet readiness. German programme announcement.
On June 17, 2024, the company announced the SUGV 325 launch at Eurosatory in Paris. That announcement establishes product introduction, while the current product page supplies the present public configuration description. A launch announcement alone does not establish completed delivery to a named customer. SUGV launch announcement.
Regional supply and export classification
The Centaur product page warns that final specifications may bring a product under United States ITAR or EAR export controls, with jurisdiction and classification available on request. International buyers should obtain the supplier's classification and authorized supply route for the complete configuration, including sensors and software, before relying on an offer. Manufacturer export notice.
Commercial contact and lifecycle support
Product pages provide a Request Info route, and the dedicated UGS support page lists a service form and telephone contact, +1 (978) 769-9333, option 2. Ask for a named regional sales and support owner, configuration list, training, inspection and maintenance schedule, battery replacement, parts availability and repair turnaround terms. Product inquiry; UGS service support.
Evidence limits and buyer resources
Manufacturer pages and programme announcements support product identification and commercial questions. They do not guarantee suitability for every hazard, unrestricted international sale or safe operation without trained personnel and a site-specific assessment. Current configuration, support and purchasing conditions require written confirmation. Request product support information.
