Inspection Checklists for Equipment Buyers
Look at the machine, not at the listing.
What to inspect
| System | Checks |
|---|---|
| Power-on | Alarms, controller messages and software version |
| Motion | Unusual noise, backlash, accuracy at a known point |
| Cables and hoses | Chafing, cracking and repairs |
| Tooling | Wear, alignment and function |
| Safety devices | Guards, interlocks and emergency stops |
| Documents | Manual, program backups and service records |
Practical steps
- Ask to run the machine, not just watch it powered on.
- Time the inspection; do not let it be rushed.
- Record findings and agree them in writing before payment.
Inspection reduces risk but cannot prove future reliability. Price accordingly.
