Gripper Quick Change Systems
Changeover time decides whether high-mix production is viable.
What to agree
| Item | Consideration |
|---|---|
| Repeatability | Position accuracy after each change |
| Weight | The coupling adds to the payload and must be counted |
| Utilities | Air, vacuum and electrical pass-through |
| Storage | Where tools are parked and how they are protected |
| Detection | How the system knows which tool is fitted |
Practical notes
- Measure the actual changeover time, including tool retrieval.
- Keep a spare coupling; it is a single point of failure.
- Re-verify the tool centre point after a tool change.
Quick-change hardware adds weight and error. Confirm both against the robot rating.
