Robot Control Modes Explained
The same robot behaves differently in each mode.
Modes you will meet
| Mode | Behaviour |
|---|---|
| Manual or teach | Reduced speed, held enable device |
| Automatic | Production with guards and interlocks active |
| Step or single cycle | One instruction or one cycle at a time |
| Recovery | Restoring position after an interruption |
| Collaborative | Speed and force limits active |
Practical rules
- Never teach inside a running automatic cycle.
- Enable devices should be deliberate, not taped down.
- Return to automatic mode through a defined, recorded procedure.
Mode names and behaviour differ between brands. Work from the controller manual for your model.
