Robot Specifications Explained
Specification sheets are comparable only when read the same way.
What the numbers mean
| Specification | What to check |
|---|---|
| Payload | At what centre of mass and speed |
| Reach | From where, to which point |
| Repeatability | Under which load and temperature |
| Speed | Maximum joint speed, not path speed |
| Protection class | Which elements are covered |
Reading them well
- Look for the test conditions behind every figure.
- Compare the same measurement across suppliers.
- Treat marketing summaries as a starting point, not as the specification.
Definitions differ slightly between makers. Compare using the technical documentation for each model.
